God's Word, the Bible, holds within it the story the true story of the one true God and his unconditional love for us. In the beginning, there was only God. God, being relational in nature, longed for companionship. He created the Earth and all that is in it simply for man. Seeing that it was not good for man to be alone, he also created woman from man and he saw that this was good. Very good. And yet, even in this tranquil paradise, sin was at work. When God created man and woman, he created them with free will. With that free will, they made the wrong choice and fell to sin which resulted in separation from God.
Devastated, God set a plan into motion to re-connect with His creation. God the Father gave up his son, Jesus Christ, to come to this Earth, take on the form of a man and live a sinless life. It was Jesus' choice to give up his life through death on a cross and rise from the grave three days later so that we could be reunited with the Father. The beating that Christ endured from the whips of the Roman soldiers brought physical healing for you and me. As Jesus' blood was shed and his body was broken, he bridged the gap that had separated us from God. And today, Jesus calls out to each of us, asking only that we recognize the sacrifice that he made, turn from our mistakes, and honor him as leader of our lives to enjoy friendship with God once again. In this friendship, we're given a unique way to outwardly express the change that has happened to us on the inside. Jesus instructed us to signify our new life in him through the act of baptism. When we are submerged into the water, we leave our old life behind. When we emerge from the water, we begin our new life in Christ. And in this new life, we should never forget the sacrifice that Jesus made. Whenever we get together, we share in the act of communion, remembering the body and blood of Jesus Christ. While his impact was earth-shattering, Christ's time on Earth was short. As he ascended back to heaven, he promised that God would send his Holy Spirit to give strength to those that had chosen to follow him. That same Holy Spirit is alive and active today, ready and willing to give each person the power to change their world. With the love of the Father, forgiveness found in Jesus Christ, and the strength found in the Holy Spirit, we will accomplish this mission! God's story began with creation, continued through the fall of man, reached its turning point in the work of Christ the Son, continues today through the work of the Holy Spirit, and is surging forward to its ultimate conclusion when Christ will return to take his people to be with him. We look forward to that day with expectancy, knowing that God also is brimming with excitement to bring his children home! Need more info on what we believe?
